Two radiographers qualified from recognised Ugandan institutions
A senior X-ray attendant earlier trained-on-job then had training in Italy in operative ultrasound scan.
The department also conducts refresher trainings for midwives in Iriiri and Apeitolim health centres and other lower facilities in obstetric ultra-scanning.
The X-rays are digital!
The number and quality of X-rays taken still remained high attributed to the pixium portable cassette and competence of our personnel.
The department has consistently passed radiation safety checks by the Atomic Energy Council of Uganda (AEC).
The staff use lead aprons to protect themselves from radiation. The staff exposure to radiation is monitored using TLD badges which are periodically read by AEC and have always passed the tests.
The safety of our staff from dangers of radiation is ensured.
